A Blue Heart Under the Sea
This is one of my old poems from my poetry collective due for publication in the near future as well. Currently pending review. This poem was originally written in 2017! The image is a picture my wife and I took from the plane to Mexico. I hope you enjoy! And as always, I love feedback!

Upon the sea, I see a sparkle.
It draws me in like a siren’s song.
I see the rocks, but I carry onward.
Toward the sparkle upon an endless sea.
It shimmers in the sun, dancing about in the day.
By night, it glimmers, just an arm’s length away.
Soon I will explore the depths and seek the treasures buried beneath the surface.
A blue heart hidden under sparkling fathoms of water.
Pain preserved by salt, but let me sift and boil it away.
Take my hand and let’s swim until both our blue hearts are red with life again.
There is no need to drown here alone when the shore is just a stone’s throw away.
I have only a broken raft, but it brought me to you.
Please, don’t let me sail alone for I doubt it would hold.
I shall take the sail if you can mend the broken boards.
Then someday soon, we’ll reach that shore together in a ship worth adoration.
Perhaps if many more sunny days await us, we will have our own crew too.
But those dreams may only come if you love me as I love you.
